YouTube Super Chat lets users highlight their comments by paying

YouTube Super Chat lets users highlight their comments by paying

And we plan to broadly launch Super Chat Jan. 31 for creators in 20 countries and viewers in more than 40 countries. And what would they get in return for their funds?

Google has describe Super Chat as a "highlighted message in the chat stream that stands out from the crowd to get even more of your favourite creator's attention". Those chats then spend five hours pinned to the top of the chat stream for others - and the YouTube creator - to see. If someone pays for a Super Chat comment, does the cash go to YouTube or the creator?

But YouTube Super Chat is only available for people aged 18 and above.

When you're on the live chat, you will see a dollar sign and clicking on that will lead you to the Send a Super Chat button. Says YouTube, anyone who is watching a livestreaming video on the service can buy a Super Chat, which will make their message stick out in the chat stream with a highlight.

YouTube is already launching a beta with YouTube creators iHasCupquake (beauty, 5.2 million followers), Alex Wassabi (comedy, 2.2M) and Great Library (video games, 1.4M).

This new feature is also a replacement for Google's earlier platform called Fan Funding which it had announced in 2014, which was its previous tool for voluntary payments. The site plans to launch Super Chat on January 31 for creators in 20 countries and viewers in more than 40 countries.

YouTube aims at strengthening the creators-fans relationship and providing new marketing tools for businesses. With YouTube livestreaming activities, content creators can explore more options that shall interest them. While we were really excited about Fan Funding, it never achieved widespread usage outside of livestreams, where we saw the majority of revenue.

The feature will still be around until February 28, but on enabled channels only, while new sign-ups will no longer be accepted.
