President Trump Making First Florida Visit Since Taking Office as Protest Planned

President Trump Making First Florida Visit Since Taking Office as Protest Planned

"There's just so much to be done", Trump said in November after winning the presidential election. After buying the estate decades ago, Trump will be fulfilling Post's dying wish when he makes his first visit to the "Winter White House" since taking office Friday, according to White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

Channel 9's Christopher Heath will be live in West Palm Beach covering President Trump's visit and the protest on Eyewitness News. The report pegged the cost of that getaway at about $3.6 million.

Trump also spoke with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni about cooperating on security, counter-terrorism and other issues.

If the trip is for official business the government bears the cost, but if the trip is political in nature those travelling reimburse the government "the equivalent of the airfare that they would have paid had they used a commercial airline", according to the Congressional Research Service.

Meanwhile, protestors planning a February 4 demonstration at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort had to cancel the event, allegedly because the crowd was going to be too large for the area.

"I hope he reflects on the costs of doing that and sees if there's any savings to be achieved", Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Politico.

The 2.4-mile march is called March Mar-a-Lago.

President Donald Trump will attend the International Red Cross Ball at Mar-a-Lago Saturday night, an event expected to draw protests nearby.
