Marijuana can be unsafe for kids, said pediatricians

Research also suggests that the sooner a young person begins using a substance, the more likely it becomes that they will develop an unhealthy dependence or addiction to it.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) warned the parents to protect their children from marijuana as it is harmful to kids and for their developing brain. But children are developing false thoughts in their mind about the use of pot. That is why the American Academy of Pediatrics says it is opposing both medical and recreational marijuana use for kids and its time pediatricians and parents have a sit down with their teens. The AAP recommends pediatricians offer guidance during office visits, and advise parents against using marijuana around their children.

Parents who use marijuana at home also expose their children to secondhand smoke, Ryan said, or accidental pot poisoning from an increasing array of edible marijuana products such as pot-infused sweets, baked goods and beverages that contain high amounts of THC yet are often indistinguishable from ordinary treats.

The new report also warns that some of these changes may be permanent.

The authors said the report tries to rebut any perceptions that marijuana is safe, even as 29 states and Washington, D.C. allow its use for medical purposes, recreational use or both.

As more states decriminalize the use of pot, he says he is anxious teens won't take the long-term consequences seriously.

The report said the drug is more addicting today, it can affect learning and regular use can lead to mental health problems including anxiety and depression.

"Marijuana is not a benign drug, especially for teens".

According to the new guidelines, parents should take a help of doctors in order to control theirs out of control children who used to smoke pot and drink alcohol.

Many states have recently made significant changes to their legislation making recreational and/or medical marijuana use by adults legal. It can be treated with the counseling and medication.

With about 20 percent of high school students using marijuana, experts said it's critical for parents and pediatricians to discuss the dangers with kids.
