PSL: Karachi Kings play Islamabad United in 2nd play-off

Neither Chris Gayle nor Kieron Pollard fired but Karachi Kings still managed to stay alive in the Pakistan Super League with a convincing 44-run victory over Dwayne Smith's Islamabad United in the first qualifier here Wednesday.

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first.

Chasing a target of 127, the defending champions were bowled all out for 82 runs as Usama Mir and Immad Wasim shattered the strong batting line of Islamabad.

Karachi Kings will now play Peshawar Zalmi for a spot in the final on Friday. So, the plan was to take wickets and give it our 100 percent and the result will take care of itself. Chris Gayle is set to play this match and we can expect another big shot from the beast like the previous match. Both teams 8 points from the 8 matches they had played but Kings were ahead of the United for net run rate.

Left-arm pacer Rumman Raees captured four wickets for 25 while pacers Mohammad Sami and Shane Watson claimed two for 19 and 29, respectively. Karachi lost their fourth wicket for 100 runs but then lost last 6 wickets for just 26 runs, as they were bowled out for 126.

Ravi Bopara, Shoaib Malik, Usman Khan, Sohail Khan, Imad Wasim were taken out by United in quick succession as the innings came to a close.

After 20 matches, the PSL 2017 has now entered the decisive stage where Lahore Qalandars will be missing for the second successive season.

Its De-ja Vu once again, as Kings faced Misbahs men in last years PSL playoff, where the United emerged victorious, and became the eventual winners of the tournament.
