India hoists tallest tricolour at Attari; it's visible from Lahore!

India hoists tallest tricolour at Attari; it's visible from Lahore!

On Sunday, tallest national flag in the country measuring 360 feet was lifted at the Attari-Wagah of Punjab. The pole is said to be tall enough to be visible from Lahore, nearly 24 kms away. The pole is said to be visible from a long distance.

The flag itself measures 120-feet in length and 80-feet in breadth.

Senior BJP leader and Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi lifted the flag.

"The contract for maintenance of the flag has been given to a private company for three years". The weight of the flag pole is 55 tonnes, and an estimated Rs 3.50 crore rupees have been spent on this project by the Punjab govement.

Thus, Pakistan is not happy with India's decision to hoist tricolour at the global border and fears that it can be used for spying in their territory.

As the Tricolour was hoisted on the imposing iron mast, it became an instant attraction for the tourists, who took selfies and pictures to capture the flag in the background.

But Pakistani Rangers have filed an objection with the Border Security Force (BSF) over the flag. However, the neighbouring country is suspecting India may use this flag pole for spying objective across the border.

India countered Pakistan's accusation of "treaty violation" by saying that it had been installed around 200 meters before the zero line. They want it installed away from the border.

Pakistan on Thursday had again raised an objection to the flag being flown at the IB, calling the act a violation of global treaties.
