HyperLoop One Releases Images of Their Full-Scale Test Track

HyperLoop One Releases Images of Their Full-Scale Test Track

The system is the brainchild of SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk and it is now becoming reality in the desert near Las Vegas.

But the Hyperloop One track would be a first for a complete test of the system, including the actual vacuum tube and all.

One of the routes being considered - between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates - is 102 miles and typically takes more than an hour by vehicle. The proposed Hyperloop between Abu Dhabi and Dubai would transport passengers in autonomous pods at almost 700 miles an hour, shortening the two-hour trip to just 12 minutes. These images come only 10 months after the company publicly tested the hyperloop's propulsion system.

A hyperloop system would involve propelling pods through a large tube at up to 750 miles per hour using magnets.

Hyperloop One will first focus on ferrying goods, and eventually hopes to transport passengers at high speeds, too, cutting commute times and potentially broadening the definition of a "suburb" for major urban centres.

With this latest unveiling, Hyperloop One wants everyone to know it's as determined as ever to realize its dream of creating an ultra-fast, ground-based transportation system.

In the latter half of the year, however, Hyperloop One closed some major deals with rail authorities in the United Arab Emirates, which will allow the company to conduct feasibility studies for its futuristic technology around a major population center.

The benefits of Hyperloop travel include higher safety standards than a passenger jet, construction and maintenance costs which are nearly half that than a high-speed rail and energy usage that is similar to a bicycle per kilogram-kilometer, according to Hyperloop One.

"Tying together the Middle East region would produce greater virtual density, without congestion and pollution, spurring innovation, productivity, job growth and more powerful sharing of knowledge, labor and investment", said Lloyd in a statement.

Loyd also revealed that Hyperloop One had plans to increase its staff from 250 today to 500 by the end of the year.

The firm has said it will be able to do the 100-mile journey in just 12 minutes.
