Turkey, Russia, and U.S. draw chart to oust IS out of Syria

USA officials said Wednesday that a couple hundred Marines have deployed into Syria with heavy artillery guns, as part of preparations for the fight to oust IS from Raqqa. They have taken up positions in the villages north and west of Manbij where USA allied Arab forces backed by Kurds have been fighting for over a week with US allied Arab forces backed by Turkey, according to USA and local officials.

Therefore, the US-led coalition stationed forces in Manbij to send a message to all forces to keep their focus on ISIS. Photos of McGurk's visit to Kobani surfaced on social media and he was seen meeting with former PKK fighters in Syria. Now, on Turkey, the two powers appear to have taken a tactical joint stance.

In a thinly veiled criticism of Washington, the Turkish premier on Tuesday lashed out at "some allies' unfortunate" choice of Syrian Kurdish militia forces as partners in the fight against IS. Senators weigh how to pay for T in infrastructure MORE (R-Ariz.) said Thursday he foresees a "train wreck" in Syria if the Trump administration doesn't better address tensions between Turkey and Syrian Kurds.

The meeting of the top brass came ahead of a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Russian Federation.

Turkish officials have often accused the YPG, which has carved out three autonomous cantons along Turkey's border since the Syrian civil war started, of entertaining territorial ambitions in Syria.

"There is a need for an effective coordination in the efforts to clear Syria of all terror groups because so many countries are involved there", he said.

"The goal of the meeting, as I understand it, is to enhance senior-level military communications and improve operational de-confliction of our respective military operations in Syria", Toner said.

The U.S. military has deployed a small number of forces in and around Manbij as part of a new role to ensure the different parties in the area do not attack each other. "Kurdish militants should move out of Syria's Manbij to the east of the Euphrates (river) as we were promised", Kalin told reporters in Ankara.

The objective of meeting was explained by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım as an effort to coordinate the fight against terror and not let any accidents occur in the meantime.

Turkey's military says the Turkish, U.S. and Russian chiefs of military staff are meeting in southern Turkey to discuss developments in Syria and Iraq.

Turkey has sought the support of the US, its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally, to lead a ground offensive against Islamic State's main Syrian stronghold of Raqqa that would advance through areas controlled by Kurdish fighters, a Turkish official said last week.

The Kurds don't like ISIS and the Turkish-backed troops.

In the center of the country, Syrian troops captured the Jazal oil field from the extremists after days of fighting, state TV said, quoting an unnamed military official. "We have never in our Syrian policy ever put USA personnel in between warring Syrian factions or to maintain a local cease-fire". Despite Turkey's strong opposition, it favors the participation of the YPG's political wing in the Geneva peace talks.

Asked whether this is a new mission for USA troops in Syria, Davis said, "It is, absolutely".

Recent remarks by Premier Yildirim vaguely imply that the US bases can become permanent, increasing the possibility of the emergence of a federal Kurdish state along Turkey's border. The Russians have not remained idle either.

However, Washington has still not divulged a clear policy on Syria.
