Conte: Mind games don't make you win

Conte: Mind games don't make you win

"We'll try to manage it within our squad and get a good team to compete with them". (There is) nothing we have to clarify with him. The mind games don't bring you to win, above all if you face a team who is focused. These are the most important things for me and for every coach.

That was the last time EFL Cup winners United lost in the league, something referenced by the Chelsea website on Friday.

One game on Thursday, another on Monday. all this cup chasing does odd things to the calendar.

United will be all too aware of the fact they're technically underdogs but that hasn't stopped Chelsea from trying to play some mind games.

"On the pitch, everything was an example because the players fought hard, they fought very hard for every ball but in a positive way".

Unfortunately for United, they'll be without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as their top scorer will start a three-match domestic suspension after being hit by a violent conduct charge following an incident with Tyrone Mings last weekend. Due to their tenth-place finish past year, Chelsea did not qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League, which Leicester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Southampton all had to compete in this season.

"They are top of the league, they have confidence, they have great players, but we will show our quality there and see what happens. We are showing good football, but for sure it will be a really tough game against a good team".

The FA Cup has enjoyed something of a return to form this season, featuring heroic giant-killing acts and a string of minnows defying the odds. We have a good identity, a good team.

As we know, Chelsea sacked Mourinho last season following an very bad start and now appear to be much better off with Conte at the helm. If the favourites for each tie - Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal - win, four of the top-five teams in the league table as it stands now will be in the last four.
