Warriors game day: How will Thunder fans greet injured Durant?

Warriors game day: How will Thunder fans greet injured Durant?

Update: Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has refuted the notion that the Warriors had any issue with the Thunder's treatment of Kevin Durant during his return in early March.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti released the following statement after Durant announced his decision to leave for the Warriors. They felt Durant should have be thanked for his nine years in Oklahoma City, but with the Thunder quiet, it led to a hostile environment for Durant's homecoming.

The Warriors depart from Oakland Sunday and will play back-to-back games, starting in Oklahoma City on Monday and then heading to Dallas.

Still recovering from a right knee injury, it is unlikely Durant will be on the bench for Monday's game.

The Thunder's fifth consecutive victory improved the team's record to 40-29 to match the Los Angeles Clippers for fifth in the Western Conference.

The players might have rallied around Durant and embraced the taunts, but the organization was reportedly upset with the way the Thunder handled his return.

"We are fortunate to have people like Russell, Nick, Steven and Billy in place, individuals who care deeply about the Thunder and what it stands for in our community and who are proud of their contributions to date, yet driven and honored to write our next chapter together". He, in partnership with many teammates, invested a great deal in helping to build a culture and identity for a franchise in its infancy stages, one whose accomplishments and identity we should all take great pride in representing.

ESPN's Chris Haynes broke the news Sunday morning that Kevin Durant will travel with the Golden State Warriors during their upcoming two-game road trip. I know (Thunder owner) Clay Bennett.
